A: Infectious mono doesn't cause sores in the vaginal area. If you have mono now, this infection can temporarily change your immune system, and it is possible that you might get flare-up of a genital yeast infection or of genital herpes when your immune system is "down." Sores in that area can also rarely be due to a drug reaction, so if you have been taking any medications, this is a possibility. If these sore are painful or last more than a few days, have a doctor examine you to find out what they might be and to be sure they aren't due to an STD.
