Q: I was curious of the possible STD's that show symptoms of: small clusters of pinkish white bumps on the inside of the labia, a vinegar odored discharge, and tenderness in the nipples. The symptoms have been present for about two months. 1/8/03

A: No one STD would give you all these symptoms. Small pinkish bumps could be small venereal warts, caused by a virus called HPV (HumanPapillomaVirus). A vinegar-scented odor is usually caused by a condition called bacterial vaginosis, in which different bacteria take over or overgrow the usual healthny bacteria (lactobacilli) in the vagina; this condition is not really an STD, and can be treasted with oral antibiotic. Sore nipples are caused by pregnancy, being on female hormones (like in birth control pills), irritation to the nipples from clothing rubbing on them (happpens in runners) or from sexual stimulation or nursing; sore nipples are NOT a symptom of an STD. I would have a doctor or a women's health clinic check out the bumps and the discharge to see what's causing them.
