The strains of wart virus (Human PapillomaVirus, or HPV) that cause warts on hands and feet are generally different from those that cause genital warts, but it would be possible to infect genital tissue with a wart on a finger or hand. As a general rule, it isn't a good idea to touch your (or another's) genital area with a finger or other body part that has any kind of infection, be it warts, herpes, or bacterial infections.
