A: You could get a few STDs by just touching a girl's genital area with your hand or finger if she had that STD. The most common infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea CAN'T be caught by this kind of contact, because those germs only infect mucous membranes (like the tissue lining the vagina, urethra [tube in the penis], or mouth). If a girl had a sore or ulcers due to syphilis, that could infect the skin on the hand and cause an ulcer there. If your hand or finger had a cut or break in the skin and touched some herpes sores or some venereal warts, then those viruses could cause infection in that area of the skin. Finally, if your hand had a cut and came in contact with HIV (the AIDS virus) in the vaginal fluid of an HIV-infected female, you might be able to get HIV from that exposure. However, in general, most STDs are most likely to be caught by having genital-to-genital or genital-to-anal contact.
